Creating a Coupon

The coupon module allows the user to scan and obtain an alpha-numerical coupon code that can be redeemed online or in-person at a store.

Creating a Coupon

Step 1: Click the "Create New Coupon" button at the top right of the screen.

Step 2: Enter name, description & usage for the coupon.

Design

The steps for designing a coupon are outlined in Designing your Sodyo Content.

Text

In the Text section, the user must add a Title for the coupon and the text that will be displayed on the badge.

There is a space to add a message that will be displayed when a user tries to scan but the quantity of the coupon limit has been reached. There is a default message in place, but the user can simply type over it to customize the message.

The “Get Coupon Text” is the text that is displayed at the bottom of the screen on the button that is pushed in order for the end user to redeem the coupon. In order to customize the text, simply type over the default text.

The “Info” box is the area where the user types any information relevant to describe the offer.

Lastly, there is a checkbox for the user to decide if he wants to add Terms & Conditions to the coupon. If yes, he simply checks the checkbox and if not, he leaves it blank. If the user wants to display the T&Cs, after marking the checkbox, he can customize the title of the section by typing over the default text or leave it as-is. In the next field, he must supply his own terms and conditions, noting that every line will be displayed as a bulleted list.

Coupon

There are four types of coupons, called “Generation Scheme”. It is very important to determine the Generation Scheme that is desired up front, as once the user selects either “Save and Continue” or “Save”, he will no longer be able to change the Generation Scheme.

  1. One-Code Coupons - This type of coupon is where the user inputs the entire code into the Sodyo system. Every single user is provided with the same code, and the number of redeemable coupons is unlimited.

    1. Simply type the desired code into the “Coupon Code” field.

  2. Unlimited Coupon Codes - This type of coupon is Sodyo generated, however the user can choose to determine his own prefix, if desired. The custom prefix can be up to 6 characters, if desired. The remainder of the coupon code will be defined by the Sodyo system. The number of redeemable coupons is unlimited.

    1. Simply type the desired prefix into the “Coupon prefix” field.

  3. Limited Coupon Codes - This type of coupon is the same as the Unlimited Coupon codes, with the sole exception that the number of coupon codes is limited by the user.

    1. Simply type the desired prefix into the “Coupon prefix” field.

    2. Simply type or use the arrow buttons to select the number of redeemable coupons desired in the “Coupons Amount” field.

    3. The Coupons Amount field will be available for editing after the coupon has been saved. Any edits to this field after the coupon has been saved will show a popup warning to the user.

    4. If you wish to lower the amount of coupons available to less than the number of coupons that have already been redeemed, the system will allow that; however no additional coupon codes will be generated for users who scan.

  4. Generated Coupon Codes - This type of coupon allows a user to upload up to 10,000 custom coupon codes into the Sodyo system.

    1. First, the user must click “Save and Continue” on the coupon.

    2. Next, he must import the coupon codes by doing the following steps:

      1. Select the “Import Codes” button

      2. Upload your file containing the coupon codes. You will see a notification as follows:

      3. Anything denoted as a duplicated code or an invalid code will not be uploaded.

      4. To add additional codes, simply repeat the process and new codes will be added.

Below the Generation Scheme, there will appear information regarding the coupons after the coupon has been saved.

The information includes the “Number of Available” (if applicable) and the “Number of Used”. This information is updated in real time. Additionally, below that is a button to export the used coupon codes. The information available upon export is the Coupon Code, Device ID that redeemed the code, and timestamp that the code was redeemed. In our environment, we refer to redeeming the code to be the moment that the user clicks the button to get the coupon code on the device.

Note: Coupons can be time limited as well. This is not done in the content field, however. This is done while setting up the Campaign.

Sponsorship

Sponsorships can be added to the Coupons by following the instructions in the Utilizing the Sponsorship Section page.
